Beirut DC is actively building an all-encompassing database of Arab independent films, cinema and video professionals, Arab filmmakers, etc. This is turning to be an extensive and arduous procedure, but most definitely a worthy and rewarding one in the long run.
Beirut DC takes particular pride in its video library, which is also a work in progress, and already gathers around 800 titles. The library constitutes an important visual resource for researchers, young filmmakers, and the like.
The library holds titles from most of the Arab countries, including Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, and the Gulf. Also featured are movies from Iran, France, Germany, the USA, and others.
The video collection embraces several cinema genres, from fiction and documentary films, to experimental and animation movies. A large section of the library consists of Lebanese student films, which have been collected over the years from various Lebanese film schools. These include fiction shorts, documentaries and experimental films.
