Beirut DC and the 3 Continents Film Festival – Production in the South (Nantes) has organized between the 20th and the 23rd the workshop "Production in the South – Beirut".

 

Conceived by the Produire au Sud Workshop of the 3 Continents Film Festival of Nantes, France - www.3continents.com/pas.html , this workshop seeks to offer its participants and cinema professionals the necessary means for the production of feature films and provide them with the right access key to hit the international markets.

 

The aim of the Beirut version was to assist young producers from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine and Egypt on the various legal aspects between a director and its producer, the financial aspects of a production within the existing infrastructure in the Arab World (and how to co-produce with European companies), marketing, selling and distribution strategies as well as pitching techniques.

 

Several speakers came to Beirut to attend the workshop and discuss with the Arab producers their topics of interest. Among the main speakers was Anne-Dominique Toussaint, producer of the Lebanese-French film Caramel, who shared the success story ofCaramel and how to work on a budget. The debates and discussions have been moderated by Guillaume Marion from Produire au Sud, France and Zeina Zahreddine from Beirut DC.

-          Hania Mroué (Arab film promotion, Beirut DC – Lebanon)

 

This workshop has been produced with the support of the Cultural Mission of the French embassy in Lebanon and with the support of the Goethe Institute in Beirut.
